It is the question we get more than any other, and most answers online are vague because most sellers do not want to commit to a number. Here is ours. If you are buying elsewhere, check the weight before you compare — a “bundle” is not a standard unit, and some are 50g. Three things that change the number 1. How full you want it Two people can ask for waist-length boho braids and need different amounts. A fuller look with more braids uses more hair than a sparser one at the same length. If you are looking at a reference photo with very dense braids, add a bundle. 2. How small your parts are Smaller parts mean more braids, and more braids mean more hair — even though each individual braid is thinner. Micro or small knotless braids will use noticeably more than jumbo. 3. Your own hair length If your natural hair is already long, less extension hair is doing the work, and you may get away with less. If you are starting short and going to waist length, the extension is carrying the whole length. When in doubt, size up Running short halfway through an install is the thing our customers tell us they regret most. You cannot always match a second order to the first if it is a custom colour, and a stylist who has blocked out six hours cannot pause while more hair ships. Left-over hair is not wasted either. It stores fine, and because this is human hair you can use it in the next install. Does human hair need more or less than synthetic? Usually a little less by weight, because human hair sits differently and does not need the bulk that synthetic uses to look full. But the bigger difference is what happens afterwards: synthetic gets thrown away, and human hair gets washed and reinstalled. That is the part that changes the maths.
